As a game itself, it is definitely unique and fun. I had been a huge proponent for this not being a pack-in title, but after playing it It tells the story of the system Additionally, in the same way that Wii Sports introduced us to motion controls and NintendoLand introduced us to the novelty of having a second screen; this title serves to show off all the cool little things the joy-cons can do really refined motion control, IR, HD rumble. It can be fun, but it lacks depth in the same way Wii Sports and NintendoLand did.
The mini-games are enjoyable and we'll likely get good use out of them when we have people over. But there isn't much more to the game than playing a mini-game, laughing a little, and moving on to the next mini-game. Some are better than others. I was hoping this was a more robust title like Wii Party U, which had a lot of different game modes. For others, I think you would be better off waiting until the price comes down.
It is a good unique party game. It makes good use of the joy cons and it gives you a feel of the abilities of the switch such as using the kickstand. I think they should have included this as a built in game. The mini-games included range from tons of fun to downright silly. At full price, this is not worth anybody's money.
The title should have been a pack-in with the Switch. The average Switch owner will likely play Switch for a total of 1 or 2 gameplay hours and then be entirely done with it. Fun game to play with a group of people! It reminds me a lot of Wii sports, cool at first, but how many times can you possibly play motion control bowling without it getting old?
At least Wii sports was a pack in title. I bought this at launch to get my kids into the Switch. We have played it max 4 times for a total of 3 hours per the Nintendo Parental app. So for me it was a great way to show off the Switch novelty factor but in the end the replay value was very low in my household. We picked this title to go with a new Switch purchase based on the recommendation of a friend. However, the whole family felt as though this is more of a tech demo than a full game.
The motion controls didn't feel very precise. I almost feel as though the Wii motion controls are as good or better than the Switch motion controls. We put a very little amount of time into this title before selling it off. Perhaps if we had stuck with it longer, we would have gotten a better sense of how the controls worked. Would be better if it had some longer games and quite a few of them are corny. Would've been a much better game if they made it as a 1 player game too, where you can play against the "computer".
All in all I like it, especially the quick draw one. My 6 year old daughter loves the dance ones. See all reviews.
